Embroiderers' Guild of America
Baldy View had a wonderful early member - Chottie Alderson! Chottie was a nationally-recognized needlework teacher in the 1980's and 1990's and many of our older members took classes from her. Her family allowed our EGA region, Pacific Southwestern Region, to reprint and update her wonderful Historic 1 and then gifted it to every PSR member. Baldy View had chosen this to be our 2022 year-long project.

The project was two parts. One is the outer border containing 41 small stitch samplers and the other is the center containing historic stitches from the past few centuries, including the famous "no-J" alphabet. The photo, an analog picture from the 1980's, does not do the project justice.

We introduced the project at our January meeting with a Zoom lecture by Val Reece. Val was on the team that updated the charts. February our Programs chair Ruth gave a talk about how to choose all new colors for large project like this using the basic tools of a color wheel and a phone camera.

This project became a separate member group for the remainder of the year. If you'd like to buy the chart, please go to psrega.org and tap on the "shop" button. If you'd like to be part of our group, go to our "about" page and join our chapter!
